Hit the track last night....

for the first time in about 2 years.

I took 2nd place (out of a field of 137 competitors) in final eliminations and won me a neat little trophy. I probably would have taken 1st but the little punk I was up against took lane choice and gave me the lane I can't hook up in.

Best MPH of the night: 107.14mph
Best ET of the night: 12.812sec

With some good drag radials or slicks I probably would have hit mid-low 12's at least. My tires were spinning off the line and after every gear shift through 4th gear. I got the numbers I was expecting though. Next year I'll be more prepared

I lost against a kid with an Impala SS. His father was coaching him throughout the night and I'm sure he took notice that I couldn't hook up in the right lane. I did whoop him at the light though. .608 (one of my worst R/Ts of the night) to his .712. My 60' was a rediculous 2.327 having to lift 3 times to hook up.

It was fun beating the snot out of a 2001 Mustang Cobra and an older 5.0 'Stang last night though hehe...

If anyone knows the least expensive (cheap) way to hook up my stock rear suspension and tires please let me know. I need more traction but have very little cash to spare

sounds like some good times!

cheap ways...LCA reloc. brackets are fairly cheap and u could try an airbag in the rear spring,or an airbag in both springs

Good for just blowing the cobb webs off ! ....cheap traction: two dead batteries in the trunk, remove the front sway bar or at least the links, run at least a 1/2 tank of gas, lower the pressure in your rear tires and raise the pressure in the fronts, heat the tires slightly but not thru the water box,Ease into the pedal for more traction than opening it up right out of the gate.....These are a few I have had to use and they all are free

Congrats on 2nd place. So what type of tire are you using to cut 2.3. A cheap way to cut down your 60ft which help me somewhat is remove the front swaybar, put v-6 spring and use a soft shock on the rear. Also use a good tire such a et street's, or find some drag radial such as bfg/nitto. By the way good times for a car that cut's 2.3 on the 60ft.

box in your stock lca and add poly bushings, weld on some relocation brackets and put in a poly torque arm mount.

Re: Hit the track last night....

Awesome suggestions! I'm currently running Pirelli P7000 SUPERSPORTs...275/40/17. These tires are the best I have used yet. But...they just can't hook up out of the box anymore. I roll through the water and do my burn beyond the box just up to the staging beams. On a side note...my car will ALWAYS swings to the left (back end)...bad enough to the point that I have to stop the burn-out, straighten out, and do it again. Any ideas on this? The posi unit checks out and everything seems to be ok there. Possibly front brake balance? The car stops straight every time...this one has me stumped. Watching other F-bodies out there I notice similar swing-out but not nearly as bad as mine. One of my burnouts turned me almost completely sideways and gave one of the staging crew a little scare...LOL.

At launch I only bring the RPMs up to about 2000-2500 and I ease the clutch in. I'm using a Centerforce Dual-Friction which isn't a "grabby" clutch. I shift at 5800rpm (6000rpm pill in the MSD) and after each shift I'm guessing that I'm spinning the tires for at least 20 feet. The squealing lasts for a good second after shifts...even dropping into 4th about 200 feet before the trap. I am not using the nitrous yet. Rear end gears are a mild 3.73. I don't really want to drastically change the suspension for drag racing since the car is mostly a cruiser, (topless driving rocks!) though beefing up the control arms is probably going to be my next move after tires. Being a convertible I have absolutely NO room left in the trunk. My laptop BARELY fits in there now...LOL. I could also use suggestions on some good (but inexpensive) drag radials.
