hi guys, Im new here!

Hello everyone, I just joined yesterday! I just felt like introducing myself. My name is JP and I used to be all about imports and now own a 1997 SS 30th anniversary, white with orange stripes, and was modified by SLP.
This car was handed down to me by my dad who has had the car since new and has been treated well. The car only has 88k original miles and I can say that having this car had turned me from import to muscle. Even though I was into imports I had nice ones not riced out civics or anything. I have previously had a Honda s2k, and mazdaspeed 3. I also currently have a lexus IS 250 but had to give it to the wife since the tranny in her car went out and shes a manager at her job. Since I got the SS I let her drive the automatic and use the SS as my daily driver.
I have had American muscle instilled in me since I was young by my dad. My dad has had 6 vettes and 4 camaros, and he currently owns 2 badass beasts of American muscle. He owns a 2000 viper GTS supercharged and his new toy is a 2011 Shelby GT 500 with the performance package( thats why he gave me the SS and I didnt even know that at the time).
I am glad to join this forum, I found it when I had some issues with the SS and googled my question and this forum had my answer.
I am going to put some pics of my car to see what you guys think of it and if you have some ideas i would appreciate it greatly. When I got the SS it needed paint, so we put a pearl white paint job and we had the wings west lip kit for it so we put that on also. I also have brand new OEM stripes but haven't had time to get them put on. The car still needs some work but I am working on it. The car has a good system. Kenwood headunit, kicker cvr 10 inch subwoofers, pioneer door speakers, and 2 kicker amps pushing them. It also has HID and LED lights interior and exterior. It also has spray from a NOS wet kit, 120 shot i believe, my dad put that on. If anyone has any questions about lights, I'm your man. I wholesale HID and LED kits so I am very knowledgeable in this area so don't be afraid to ask lol.
Sorry it was so long and boring I just wanted to give you guys some good background on myself and my camaro. It seems like a very good community to be a part of.

I'd like it better without the stickers and ground effects, but welcome.

Howdy! Your dad has good taste in cars. And while I appreciate you enthusiasm for this car, I would suggest that you are hurting the resale value. These are relatively rare and highly sought after. I would return it to stock, and buy a plain "Z" to mod.
Are you a member of SSOA? Do you have the SLP build number?

I'm sure I have it. I'm not worried about the resale value. My dad told me that he doesn't ever want me to get rid of it. He has an emotional attachment to it.

Never should have been done to a 30th anniversary car. What were you thinking!

It was my dads Idea. He handed this car down to me. He fixed it up and gave it to me. I don't think that there is anything wrong with it. Everyone that sees it in person likes it. You don't have to come out with "what were you thinking" especially to someone who is new to this community. Just because it's not your cup of tea doesn't mean that you have to come at me like that.

I have a 97ss. Green w/ black. MM6 trans. I think most 97ss had the 6 speed. I have moded my Camaro quite a bit. (383ci - ATI_D1 super charged, Moser_12, suspension, body structure + more). Never owned any rice except for motorcycles.

Mine has evolve since I purchased new in 1997 because they would not sell me a C5 Corvette. I could not leave the Camaro stock.

I'm always messing with it and thinking of how to mod for added performance. It's a corner machine w/ very rigid suspension. Lots of Porche's and ricers always come @ me for a test.

I have not upgraded any lights yet. Don't know much about that.
How do you like your ss relative to your previous rides?

B.

It is pretty good actually. The fastest car that I have actually owned was my mazdaspeed 3. That car was a beast because it was boosted from the factory and had relatively high hp and torque numbers and I just added to it. It wasthe fastest car I owned in a straight line but the ss is close behind. I do love the ss a lot though and the ss is definately the best looking car that I have owned.
Thanks for your response

Just remember you are the one who started this thread. If you cannot handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen. Not all responses are going to be postive. This is my first negative response I have posted. Read all of mine and you will see. Besides what you have done to the car there are tons of people on this site that can help you with any problems that may come up with your car. Remember not all responses are postive.

Clean looking SS. You did the right thing converting to muscle. These F-Bodys are nothing but grins and giggles.

Nah man I know understand that not all responses are going to be positive and I can handle the heat. I just think that coming out with a comment like "what were you thinking" was a little unnecessary. That's all. Especially someone that is new here. It's straight though I don't hold on to anything anyways.

Thanks man. I know you weren't trying to upset me or anything. Some people just take things differently. It's no big deal though. I'm glad I'm a part of this forum. I will remember what you said. Thanks.
