help please?

Alright I was wondering what are some good Engine, Tranny and rear end mods I could do to my 97 Z-28 for hard low end acceleration. It has a LT-1 with 122k and a auto trans. When you get on it, it whines like crazy and I'm thinking that would be the rear end making the noise should I just replace it and if so with what?. How much longer untill the engine should be rebuilt? (normaly) Im thinking of a LT-1 to LT-4 conversion for the car after i rebuild the motor would that be a dramatic increase in low end power? I want the car to pull really hard im not so much worried about the top end im looking for more of low end acceleration on the street. Any help would be great sorry I just dont really know what to do with it I've always had a jeep haha.

thanks

Re: help please?

You might want to separate the question into two parts.... one about the tranny, posted on the "Drivetrain" forum; and the other about the LT1 engine, posted on the "LT1/LT4 Engine Tech" forum.

The LT4 "conversion" is going to increase top end breathing/power more than anything. Its not going to show up as any increasein low end torque. For more bottom end, a 383 or 396 stroker rebuild would provide a lot more grunt.

If your talking tranny a diff converter and a good programmer for firmer shifts would be a good starting point what converter I don't know you would need to ask the converter company. Engine I agree with the above statement, but and LT4 would be cheaper and still give you more. Rear end for an auto tranny 3.73s If going to use slicks and lean on it real hard you'll end up needing a 12 bolt before long, but if your just using street tires on the street the 10 bolt should hold up.
