Help, Need to get this solved asap!

I have a 94 TA, and the other night when I got into my car to start it, the key was stiff turning it to the on position. When It was in the on position no lights came up in the dash (I had no power). After turning it on and off a couples of times I finally got power, but when I turned it all the way I did not get ignition, so I kept on trying and finally the car started. After I got it bck home I could not get it started again. I took the steering column apart and removed the key assembly. On the left side, I noticed that the gears turn to start the car are a little loose. When I play around with them a little in the on position I noticed that I can get the power to stay on. At this point I'm guessing that there is a loose connector somewhere fusther down in the assembly, so my question is: Where is this on connection happening? Is the just like 2 pieces of metal that I can bend closer together to get a better connection??

sounds like you need the ignition switch replaced

here is how it is set up:

key goes in lock cylinder, turns, directly turns a metal shaft that goes to the other side of the column, on the end of this shaft is a black plastic gear, which moves a metal toothed rack, which is connected to a metal rod that goes down through the column to the ignition switch, which is on top of the column under the dash

Found it, I'm going to remove it tomorow and have a better look at it. I think your right. When I tilt the column downwards the metal rod moves just a little further and it's enough to make the car start.
