Yesterday I was going to my friend's house and my car just suddenly started sputtering like it was going to stall out but my RPM's never dropped. Anyway the putt putting slowed down on the way there. I stayed there for about an hour and when I left my car ran perfectly so I went to my other friends house. When I left his house it ran perfectly again. Come this morning when I was taking my niece to school it started acting up again but this time it was BAD!! The car is missing on I don't know how many cylinders, it's backfiring real bad, I can't even drive over 20mph because it starts stuttering real bad and jerking you back and forth! My car is not even drivable with how bad it is right now. Could someone help me? The car is a 6speed 94 Trans Am.

Mine acted up like that and it turned out to be a coil pack.

 

Need to check the basics, fuel (verify your fuel pressure) and spark at the spark plugs and no burnt spark plug wires. Look for arcing around the wires with the engine running in the dark. You could also have a clogged cat.

 

Agreed, and check that coil!

 

Check all the connections to the opti and coil make sure there is no corrosion

 

clogged cats? that might just be letting a little air through>?
