Help i'm MELTING a/c problem

Hello new to the forum and I could really use your help. I have a 97 z28 that is blowing hot air out of the vents and I am dying in this heat. So far I have checked the pressure and verified that the compressor is turning on. It almost feels like the heater is on because the air is a bit hotter than ambient. Is that possible? Any suggestions on how I should continue. Thank you in advance, Jacob

What is the psi? Do you have a gauge with ambient air too? If not go to autozone get yourself a fill up kit with the gauge for ambient air and psi. Also replace the valve on the fill side, they are like 2 dollars and 80 percent of your leaks are from there. When you fill it up, if you overfill your ac it will blow out warm air and show symtoms of being empty. Warm air will blow out. The pressure has a range. When I get home I will verify what that is.

Re: Help i'm MELTING a/c problem

Thanks for the replies. When I turn the temp control **** I can hear the door open/close and the heater does turn on. psi is at 38 on the low side. I'm using a cheapo gauge but I ordered a good set of guages that should be arriving today or tomorrow so I can check the high side as well. Another question I have is it normal for air to always be blowing through even with the fan off? When i'm driving down the highway I can feel a good amount of hot air coming through the vents with everything off.

OH the ICE COLD AIR! Finally fixed it. I ended up replacing the receiver drier vacuuming and recharging and it is now blowing nice and cold. The car is so much more fun to drive when you can breath lol. Thanks for the help guys.
