HELP with driver side window

My car was in the shop for a week or so. My drivers side window worked b4 dropping it off, although it was a lil slower than new. However it never once froze up while going up or down as the classic motor failures do. So it failed suddenly without warning-luckily its up. I dont here any operation from the motor when depressing the switch. I have replaced this motor once b4 too.

I need to know what else besides the motor it could be b4 pulling it apart cause i have never heard of these failing suddenly like this-(i just searched many threads here and on ls1tech) My passenger side still works btw. Thanks.

Re: HELP with driver side window

You can look at the switch, but one of mine died suddenly after it only being slow for while and doing the hesitation thing a couple times.

With a meter and a schematic. You can also try jumpering power and ground to the motor to see if it works.

Shoebox can you elaborate on the test? I do have a multimeter but I'm ignorant when it comes to this electrical stuff. Thanks.

Re: HELP with driver side window

It's impossilble to school someone on reading schematics in a thread like this. I'll try the Cliff Notes version.

terminal positions

The following is tested on the switch (disconnected from the car)

LH switch not operated:
you should have continuity from:
A to D and E (and to B and C of the RH switch)

LH switch in UP position:
you should have continuity from:
D to F
A to E

LH switch in DOWN position:
you should have continuity from:
F to E
A to D

I hope I got it right.

Mine's the passenger side and won't work with either door switch, drivers side is fine. Your's is most likely the motor too.

Re: HELP with driver side window

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but replacing driver's side window motors often is just part of owning an f-body. I've had 2 4th gens and both of them wound up making me replace them. A little trick to making them last a little longer is not letting the window go all the way down on the one touch express down...it makes the motor bind up for a couple of seconds after the window goes all the way down, ruins the motor.

Re: HELP with driver side window

OK i found out the motor is ok but with the motor disconected from the window gear the window switch only makes it go up. Nothing happens when I push down. Now what?
