Cool Heater Core

I have a stock 94 Camaro Z-28. Occasionally as I'm driving along, I will smell antifreeze inside of the car and then the smell will go away. The windshield fogs up a little, but not all the time. The car is not leaking antifreeze on the ground and I didn't see antifreeze anywhere under the hood. Should I change the heater core or are there any hoses that I need to check for pin holes or anything. Thanks!

Are your windows fogging up? Could be a problem w/in the engine bay rather than the heater core.

Check the carpet in the front on the passenger side floor and see if its wet. If so, it would be the heater core. Just did my 79z and it was really tight fit so maybe these lt's are better.

Change the heater core now. It will get worse until you have a small green lake in the flloor.

It's heater core time!

I just changed out the heater core in my '94 Z-28 after the windshield fogged. No mist coming out of the vents (not that I saw anyway), and not much smell, but definitely coolant fog.

The heater core swap isn't too bad, about 3 hours work, taking your time. Others have posted a DIY guide here, do a search and you'll find it.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike
