Heart transplant to S-10

The saddest thing in the world happened yesterday. I was in a car accident and totaled my 94 z28. Banged myself up pretty bad too.Engine and transmission are still good though.

I think I'm going to try to swap the engine/trans/ecm in to my 99 s-10.
the transmission is gone and the engine is going anyway.
One thing that might make it more difficult is that my z28 was a a4
and the s-10 was an m5 so I guess I'll need a steering column from an a4.

Anyone ever done this? what else needs to be replace besides mount, driveshaft, and the steering column?

Sorry about your misfortune. I know there are some S-10 swap boards out there (somewhere). Lots of people have done this. Most of the headaches should have already been sorted out.

Yeah I got Tunercat. thats no big deal.
The only problems I see with the pcm integration would be stuff that won't be replaced. the dash, abs..... thats about it

Re: Heart transplant to S-10

This is a swap I've wanted to do myself for some time. I figure an LT1+S10+more juice than tropicana could be lots of fun.

Problems as I see them are (but not limited to) rear end, traction, suspension, motor mounts, driveshaft (would have to be shortened, I think), and cooling. There's not a ton of room in that engine bay, and the LT1 will generate more heat than the 4-or 6-cylinder that was designed to go there. As a result, I would think you'd want a bigger radiator, but mounting one in that cramped compartment may be a challenge. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

all the same issues as a regular SBC, and you would use the same mounts, radiator and headers

Talking Re: Heart transplant to S-10

I'm thinking about getting one of those conversion kitsfor around $350. They seem to all come with a set of headers, a corvette aluminum radiator and motor mount adaptors. But I think I gotta buy another part because it's a 99
I want to use my camaro's trans and diff, so since the stick I'll probably just set up one of those B&M floor shifters. I know a friend of a friend who is really good with drive shafts. And since I don't have any desire to have another accident. I should probably buy a REALLY stiff suspension setup for it while I'm at it

btw... As soon as I get pictures.... You guys have got to see whats left of my car.... Nothing in the cabin survived.... except me
