Headliners

Well, 3 of my cars have the head liners sagging and needs to be replaced. Even though they are all in a garage it still does not seem to matter. So here are a few questions that I have.

1. Can you buy just the material and do your self, if so from where and how much.

2. How much for a pro to do it right

3. Does the foam need to be replaced or can it be reused

4. Spray can of glue or due you need a spray gun with glue

Yes, you can find the material and DIY, it and it may look like it, Again it may look good. Still a lot ofwork and problems removing the board.

I had mine done by a local auto reupholstery shop for about $150 and it looked factory. Just a 1 1/2 hours of my time waiting and watching the Pro's do the job. Call the local shops and get some estimates and decide which way to go.

I believe there are posts on the "Appearance" forum dealing with headliner replacement, and linking the source for a rigid plastic replacement panel.

Well, I did some calling around and most places want $120 for just the headliner and seems like no one want's to touch the sun visors. Then by a stroke of luck a phone number was given to me by a guy I work with and when I called it the guy told me $100 for the headliner and sail panels, but he needs another $50 just for the sun visors. Doesn't sound to bad to me. I was also told that it would take him about 2 days to order the material and complete the job which I think is outstanding.

I redid my headliner myself by buying the liner (with foam backing). Let's just say I think it was a waste of my time. Yes most of the headliner is still up, and yes there were many wrinkles in it after I was done with it. No I wouldn't do it myself again though. Not worth my time.

Well, I felt that if I did my own that it might end up the same as yours. When I sit back and think about it $150 for all three parts is not alot of money. I still have not got it done yet but will soon.
