Question headlight motor problem...need some help

when i turn off my headlights in my TA, it goes all the way down fine and smooth. when it gets to be fully lowered, it makes this god awful braahhhhhhh sound. Sounds as if the motor isnt being stopped from runnin when it goes all the way down. After about 5 seconds it stops. Ive done it a couple times see maybe if something was just a fluke but that isnt the case. Any ideas on whats going on?

I ordered a rebuild kit for mine from this guy. The part got to my house in about 3 days. It took probably about a half hour to install. Highly recomended!

That guy is primarily a Fiero dude... wouldn't you rather support a hard core Camaro/Firebird dude like me???

What?!?! I typically email everyone back in 24 hours or less (have a full time job so can't always email immediately ). When do you email me? Did it bounce? Let me know... I need to get to the bottom of this so it doesn't happen again. hahahaha

You should buy those metal gears from off Brent I had the exact same problem happen to me Friday night, it was getting really annoying and I didn't want to wait on the new gears to come in so I did the free fix that Brent has on his site.

I did it last night, literally only took like 10 min to fix the problem and that includes the time I took to find some WD40 to use on the arm that goes over the shaft on the motor

Thanks a lot for having that write up on your site Brent... I owe you a case of beer or two!

Re: headlight motor problem...need some help

I have a very annoying problem with my driver's side light. When I'm driving along and hit even the smallest bumps the whole light housing shakes & I can see the light flickering off of any reflective object- VERY annoying! Any suggestions or info is appreciated.

Re: headlight motor problem...need some help

ill purchase them in the near future no doubt.

In answer the question about the flickering headlight. I had the same prob with the headlight that just stripped the gear. My guess is that with it stripped it wasnt moving to its full up position causing it to woblle just that little bit. Everything is nice and tight now.

Re: headlight motor problem...need some help

I don't have a Firebird to go look at to verify this but I think there is a hard plastic "washer thingy" somewhere on/between the raise/lower arms. If this wears out, I think it will make the light wobble like that.

Sorry I don't have more details... I just heard about it once and never saw it or any pics.
