Is this a headlight motor or gear problem???
well the last few weeks the headlight motor sometimes would not go up on the drivers side. but it goes down fine. the motor goes up fine when it has been switched on recently but if i dont use the lights for a few days it will not go up and has to be done manually then it works fine.
Well tonight when i shut it it made a loud noise for 5 secs or so after i shut the lights off.
isnt there a free fix where you can rotate the gear 180 degrees...
will that fix it ?
I did it on ym last TA and it worked great for free. let me know waht you think is this the motor or gear problem???

The loud noise like that is the motor gear stripping out the nylon gear even more. So... stripped gear problem

The problem with the lights not coming up is another common Firebird headlight problem. The headlight is getting "jammed" in position. You can help this by putting some rubber tubing of the proper size over the raise/lower arm stops. These are small plastic stops that the raise/lower arm makes contact with. Putting the piece of rubber tubing/hosing (make sure it has the proper inside diameter so it fits snugly) will help to dampen the closing force AND stop the headlight a little sooner so it doesn't get jammed as hard
