Headlight help

I have a 1996 Z/28. The headlights quit. Everything else works. I've searched and all answers are vague. I know there has to be some experts on here!!

Check fuses. The underhood spots are for headlight doors which are not applicable to this car. I don't have the manual for this car but there are none marked for the headlights in the interior fuse box.

Are there actually fuses for the headlights or is it just the fusible links coming off the jumper box from the battery?

I imagine it's the switch. I found one post saying it was easy to replace but does anyone have any pointers so I don't have to go through hours of trial and error?

Thanks

Not an "engine" tech question.... moving to "General 67-02 F-Body Tech" forum.

Re: Headlight help

too bad no one answered this post, I have now the same problem in my '96Z!!

My headlights quit one day, so I drove home using my foglights alone. I checked the fuses and my fuse box diagram shows them, but there is nothing in the holes!! no fuses and no terminals! didn't have time to fix them, so I was using just foglights and then a cop stopped me. He said the foglights look bright enough and I lived just a couple blocks away so he was cool and didn't give me a ticket.

4 days later the headlights worked again, fixed themselves like magic.

2 days later they don't work again and I'm back to just using the foglights...

Anyone has gone though this? is it a wire chaffed somewhere? all other lights work perfectly including tail, marker,interior... so I guess it is not the switch.

Re: Headlight help

I looked at the closest year manual (98) and that shows the headlight power is supplied via a fusible link, and that there is in internal circuit breaker in the headlight switch. Would seem like the circuit breaker is a potential source of the problem.

[EDIT] Looked in my 94 factory manual, and it showsthe circuit breaker integral with the headlight switch.
