Re: HEADER'S best bang for the buck

most people say pacesetters are the best bang for the buck. Kooks are the best quality for the money. Long tube is what your going to need if your going to S/C your car. And either jet hot coated or cermaic coated to keep engine temps down. hope this helps...

Ok long ceremic pacesetter it is. Just one more question they will bolt up to the stock y-pipe and cat right?

Thanks again

No you will need to buy the y-pipe that works for long tube headers. Pacesetter sells one.

Re: HEADER'S best bang for the buck

The Pacesetter's work with an offroad Pacesetter y-pipe which can easily have the codes deleted by your tuner if you are obd2 (and will give you a bit more power because of not having cats on a boosted car) . We carry the ceramic coated headers for $399 and the y-pipe for $129 . You can order them online at www.neweraperformanceparts.com or call during business hours at 585-865-1832 . Long tube headers will definitley be more efficient on a supercharged car , and 9 times out of 10 on a naturally aspirated car as well .

Re: HEADER'S best bang for the buck

you will still pass emmissions if you have the tuner say your pcm has cats so when the emmsion people go to read what your computer is telling them it just says "has cats" and your good to go. There is no tail pipe emmisions if your car is 95+. Shorties will work but for a boosted car you will loose a lot of HP.

Yes you can bypass the cats with 02 sims.

About the passing emissions part. You won't pass a visual inspection with lts and o/r y-pipe, and passing a sniff test is also a long shot. It really all depends on what kind of testing they do in your area.

If you have emissions you might want to look into RK Sport Mids for $450.

I love longtubes, but passing emissions with them wont be a sinch.

Re: HEADER'S best bang for the buck

I see mikes 97 SS if you search for gmmg exhaust you will see his posts come up and I noticed that he had the gmmg exhaust with y-pipe and long tubes and welded two cats to the y-pipe. I am assuming that this is because he is in California would this have a lot of rescriction?

Re: HEADER'S best bang for the buck

Catalytic converters out there today aren't nearly as restrictive as they used to be when they were first introduced. A good set of high flow cats won't rob you of much horsepower on a somewhat stock style engine configuration.

What type of emissions testing do you have where you live? That will determine what header/y-pipe combo will be best for you.
