Hatch Strut Mount broken

Hatch Strut Mount broken
Yesterday i was looking at my car attempting to find the source of a few noises i get while going over large bumps and i noticed that the hatch side of the hatch strut mount is broken. I didn't get a chance to take the plastic trim panel off yet but it seems that a peice of fiberglass ripped off with the hatch strut. It still lifts the hatch but I can move the strut around. If i get time tomorrow i'll take the trim off and maybe repair it. I was curious if anyone else has had this problem.

Re: Hatch Strut Mount broken
I did some investigating today and noticed that a fiberglass peice didn't break off. It's a peice of metal that is glued to the fiberglass. I attempted to epxy it back on. The package said it takes 5 minutes to set and the stuff i mixed turned hard as a rock in about 5 minutes so i gave the hatch a good half hour before i reattached the strut. As soon as I did and put the weight of the hatch on it, it broke. Anyone have any other ideas?

Ok fixed mine with 2 3/16 pop rivets and epoxy. I drilled 2 holes through hatch and metal plate that is loose, then used some of that epoxy you knead together and pushed that in between the fg hatch and metal piece and pop riveted, worked great.

I learned to live with it for the past few months. What did you do to use the pop rivets? The metal peice seems to be only slightly bigger then the hole in the hatch.

Re: Hatch Strut Mount broken
I had ample room to get the 3/16" pop rivets in. The lower section actually goes far towards the hinge end and and the other I put right in that ring.
