Got a dashpad for cheap
So me and a few friends went looking at a junkyard for some parts for one of their BMWs, and what do I find? A 3.4L 4th gen with an unmolested dashpad chillin on the top. There was only one there (there were some 4th gen Firebirds that had dashpads, plus a 155 speedo for an LT1...), it had a small crack in it but much better than no dashpad. Here's some pics:

I got it for 26.63 after taxes, which I consider to be absolutely amazing considering what GM is charging for new ones. I also found out it's pretty easy to get them out if you take out a few clips on one side and then slowly work your hand underneath. Also, there's clips and velcro holding it in, I know some people were confused by this.
Anyway, the place is called City Auto Used Autoparts, it's in Aurora and they allow people in most sections of the yard on Saturdays so you can look around. Might be of some interest to those that live closeby. There were some T-Tops for a 3rd Gen, and I saw a couple supercharged 3.8s out of the Thunderbird SCs as well as some ohc 4.6s. All the LT1s were gone, didn't even see any LS1s.
Just thought I would let everyone know I got a good deal for once.

Re: Got a dashpad for cheap
I have a couple wrecking yards near me and I make a point to stop by there at least a few times a month... I've only seen maybe 5 4th gens in the last year or so... 6cyl, never any Z28's of course... They're usually stripped within a week... I'm always on the lookout for trim parts and things like that... I got lucky as well a few weeks ago and found a dash pad for $20.
Just a tip... You might want to flip that pad over and glue all along under that crack with something like plastic epoxy... As you probably know, once a tiny crack starts it's easy to crack it even further.. Especially when you're juggling that big a$$ piece and trying to install it.

And I stuck several strips of duct tape on the bottom of it to try to dampen vibrations a little bit, I didn't go crazy trying to brace and glue, that's what got me in trouble with my original one.
