Good deal or Pass on it?

I found a dark green 97 Z-28 30th edition for $5,000. It has 136,000 miles on it, tan leather interior, which has a small in rip in each of the front seats. The cars seems to be in good physical condition except for the seats, and the car seems to be mechanically sound, and running good. Anybody have any input? I plan to drive the car for 6 months to a year and then re-build the motor, so I am not to worried about the mileage, as long as the car will run. If anybody has any input/opinions on whether I should let this one pass or grab it, let me know. Thanks.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. If you are going to rebuild, and are not worried about the mileage, I say grab it.

I have seen them going a lot cheaper up North, but most of them have rust problems underneath. This is a Texas car with no rust issues, flawless paint, anda great interior, I think it would be worth the money, then I can rebuild the motor.

Sounds about right for the year, but if you waited a bit you may find something with lower miles. Are you stuck on that year or have you considered 93-95? There are some great deals out there for these years.

I bought a 94 Formula M6, Leather, T-Tops w/ 92k on the clock for about $3k a few months ago. It has taken alot of work to get it "right" and will need some more, but that's what project cars are, right?

It took me 6 months to find the right one for the price I wanted but they are out there. If you're planning on a re-build anyway you may want to get something for less $.

Good luck in whatever you do and keep us posted!!

Dude - it was a lucky pick but I got it off the board here! I think alot of people were turned off by the body damage but I knew it would be a project so I grabbed it. It was kind of a chance because I bought it off a guy in Iowa and all I had to go by was the pics in the link below (although I did trade a bunch of e-mails and spoke to him in person).

Then I had to pay to ship it because I couldn't get out to get it, but that was only $650 so it's still a good deal.

This is what it looked like before : http://img77.exs.cx/gal.php?g=DCP_0034.jpg

I will have to get some "after" pics together. She's not done yet though, just running and looking alot better!

This car has flawless paint, and a great, leather interior, I think it is worth maybe 4500-5000. I am going to go ahead and grab it and see how low I can get the lady to go with it. Oh yeah, it is an original owner, and a lady in her mid 30's, so I have a better chance of knowing it hasnt been totally ragged out.
