Not sure if anyone has ever experienced this, but a 97 Firebird I am working on, automatic, when you go into Reverse the battery meter drops into the yellow, when you take it out of reverse it goes back up.

Any ideas? Through trouble shooting this I have replaced the alternator, battery and starter. It has died 3 times when i am at a redlight. I am not sure if that is related or not, but after I wait a sec it will crank.

where should I start looking?

 

What's your idle speed? What's it drop to in gear? Are your backup lights working?

 

It idles at about 1100 and then drops down to 900 when going to reverse

 

oh and backup lights are working

 

What about any other gear ? When you put it in any other gear are there problems?

 

With any other gear there is no problem. Just when I go into reverse the battery level drops.

 

Some kind of crazy problem with the back up light circuit(s)? Just an idea and I've no idea how to confirm such a thing.
