Going to the first time to the track

Im heading to the track this saturday for the first time. I live in Arizona so they say times are a lil slower then other places. I plan on taking the filter out for the runs and opening up the cutout. My tires are currently at 30 ps1 for everyday driving. What do you guys recomend i drop it down to?

Leave the air filter in for one, theres no reason not to. For tires I would put them down to 15-20 psi.

Re: Going to the first time to the track

My advise is for the first runs see how everyone does it and pay attention to the tree so your take off will be better. Take off as much weight as possible, you know jack, spare tire, ect.... Dont race on a full tank of gas maybe half would be good. If its an auto you dont have to really worry, if its a manual pay attention to your peak shif points if you have a shift light.(duh) Other than that just the little things. Good luck and god speed.

Re: Going to the first time to the track

I would leave the air filter on....no sense in risking something getting in thier, and besides you won't gain that much. As for tire pressure I would leave em at around 30 psi if they are normal street tires......you only wanna lower to 20 psi and below if you have drag radials, et streets, slicks....etc... And one more good point to remember is that it isn't always a good idea to floor it off the line unless you are dead hooking with your tires...sort of roll out of it at half or 3/4 throttle and then punch it when you think it will hook.

Re: Going to the first time to the track

i was thinking of removing my cone filter because the one i have is in preaty bad shape. I clean it and all put its got to many miles on it and wont be able to get it replace intime to change it. Hopefully my times wont be to bad. I was hoping to break 13s but they say that times are a tad slower here in tucson az. so im expecting mid 14s
