going on a diet
Re: going on a diet
you CAN remove the AIR pump, its like i dont know maybe 7 pounds. haha, i only did to make room for the p/c. if you want to clean up your engine bay go for it. no so much for the weight loss though.
Re: going on a diet
There's a comprehensive list on ls1tech.com, but it seems to be down right now:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/archiv...p/t-17319.html
I'll move this to "General F-Body Tech...." since it isn't really engine-specific.

Re: going on a diet
Can't imagine it wouldn't be too bad. Prolly have to take the radiator out of the way to get to the A/C condensor. Just trace the lines back, remove the pump. MAKE SURE IT"S BLED DOWN FIRST! Refrigerant eff's the ozone up soo bad! (one molecule of refrigerant destroys 10k molecules of ozone, or some # like that... pluss there's a huge fine if cought letting it go) Disconnect the electrical connection for the clutch on the pump, disconnect the low pressure cutoff switch (near reciver dryer..silver canister on pass side). Disconnect the high/low lines from where they enter the evaporator.. (going into car)... tie up loose/lone connectors.
That should be it. Injuneer would prolly know more from experience, he's got an LT1 car.

Check out Shoebox's website - he has the part #, approx. prices and best sources (at least for LT1 cars):
