Gas evaporating?

My car hasn't been driven for about a year. When I parked it, the gas tank was almost on empty.

I've been trying to sifen the gas with a tube down the gas filler hole but their seems to be nothing in their. I've removed the hose and it's not even wet. The hose is completely dry. I can feel the hose bottoming out in the gas tank.

If their was only a tad bit of gas left in the gas tank, could it have evaporated?

Interestingly enough, just because you think the hose bottom out in the tank does not really mean that you are getting to the gas. Did you take the filler hose off the tank and then stick the siphon hose into it? I have had to do that with two vehicles to get the siphon hose to get the gas.

Although depending on exactly how much was in it, some of it was of evaporated.

Sounds like someone made a withdrawal with their Georgia credit card.

Tanks on modern cars are petty well sealed. It would have to have been very, very little gas to evaporate completely. There are baffles and what not in the way on some tanks, it could be that you are just not reaching the bottom. Why are you trying to siphon the gas out???

I've never dropped the rear end and seems much easier if I just siphon the gas out. I know I'm taking a risk not dropping the tank.

I keep on seeing a commercial in my head on Speed Channel where a guy has a classic vette and should have used fuel stabilizer. eerrrrrrr

Any other suggestions.

Got me confussed now. Don't need to touch the tank to drop the "rear end".
It is possible that you may have some gummed up injectors, but draining the tank isn't going to help that. I would get at least 5 gal. of premium put it in the tank start the car and see how it runs. If you have a miss that doesn't clear after a while you can always go to auto parts and buy some injector cleaner that you put though the shrader valve on the pass. side injector rail.
If you HAVE to drop the tank it's probably light enough already. You can't ever get all the gas out.

I think he means he would have to drop the rear axle to remove the fuel tank.
