G-Tech Pro Meter

I've been looking into these lately. From what i've heard the last generation gave very inaccurate readings. I was wondering if anyone had played with them lately?

I heard that they're not bad for a "general" idea but once u start to 60 ft pretty well with them then their useless to the point where it just goes all wacky and u need a new one

Re: G-Tech Pro Meter

There is a G-Tech Pro and the G-Tech Pro Competition. Both will give very accurate 1/4 times (within a tenth usually but more importantly, it is CONSISTENT). The 1/4 mph is typically high on the G-Tech Pro but I haven't tested the Competition model yet so don't know if it is also high for the mph.

They are both pretty cool and very useful... the Competition model just has many more feature gadgets associated with it. I'd recommend the Competition model but then it is considerably more expensive so?

Ya you can find the regular Gtech on Ebay for like 30 bucks now I hear. And ya the new ones have a ton more features. it even allows u to "log" a run and download it into ur computer. Pretty neat little thing I'd say

Yes the competition ones is awsome. I have it. Thinking if getting rid of it as it just sits in the garage in the box on a shelf. I used it twice on my other car. Used to love hooking it up and putting it on the dash with the tach running at night. The screen is blue.

I was wondering how you hook the competion meter up? Does it wire into the pcm or something?

Re: G-Tech Pro Meter

It runs entirely on G-forces....

If you calculate the G-forces and use physics, you can calculate acceleration times and speed.

ok, I was kinda trippin out because I'm looking at this pdf manual and all it comes with is a cig cable. So, is it worth getting? I'm thinking of getting this, looks fun. I guess its pretty accurate when mounted correctly. I'm looking at the new Pro SS...btw

You plug it in the cig lighter then do a set up on it. It will even show rpm's on it like a gauge.

they have a new one now called the "RR"(road racer) model, top of the line, better resolution on the LCD, and more feeature and run memory. not sure if it's more accurate or not.

Re: G-Tech Pro Meter

Well, I have some extra money in the piggy jar and it looked like something fun to play with, so I just ordered the new pro ss. I'll share my toy experience when I get it. It's on back order and hopefully get it sometime at the end of February.
