fuel tank removal question

When I swapped the stock fuel pump for the walbro 255 I ended up taking the rear end out to get the fuel tank out which was a absolute b1tch. Is it possible to get the tank off the car to get the fuel pump without removing the rear end??? If so, please elaborate because it didn't seem like it was possible the first time I was trying to get the tank out.

I think that it is as long as you put the jackstands on the body and let the rear hang down.

Or just cut a hole and spend half the time and hassle.

Re: fuel tank removal question

you would have to diconnect both lcas and drop the right side real far, but its harder than just taing the whole rear end off.... it is 10 times easier to take the rear off than attempt it this way.

I tried both ways with 13 gallons of gas in the tank and by myself

Dude taking the rear out is easy, and so is dropping the tank. I actually just did this the other day to install my Racetronix pump kit, me and my friend did it in a matter of hours, for disassembly and re-assembly.

umm.... yeah, wasn't so easy when you got almost 13 year old bolts seized into place and every single one broke when removing the rear end.

Re: fuel tank removal question

i have a completely built rear suspension with atermarket parts so it takes me about 25 minutes to actually unbolt everything and get it out of there. Hardest part is the stock torque arm.
