fuel question

so for whatever reason i have only been filling my gas tank 1/3-1/2 the way up each time i fill it up, for over a year now. stupid...i know....my question is this. since part of its been empty for a long time im sure crud is built up SOMEWHERE in it. i know i need to fill it up all the way once or twice and change the fuel filter shortly afterwards. when i fill it up to do this should i add a fuel system cleaner into it as well? i am going to for sure afterwards after new filter etc. but i didnt know if having it in while the tanks are full and getting that crud loose and into the filter would help or hurt it by dissolving that crud and letting it get to the injectors. thanks for any help, i bet this is one of the first few times this question has been asked in years....lol

Re: fuel question

Why do you think so called curd is building up in your gas tank?????? Even if you are using the dirtest gas if that is possible, I don't see it happening. Just change the fuel filter if that will make you feel better.

Re: fuel question

Even in the high humidity of Houston this should not be a concern.
If it makes you fell better replace the filter and cut open the old one. Don't burn the garage down cutting open the filter!
