Fuel Pump/Fuel Gauge
Fuel Pump/Fuel Gauge
Ok, i haven't figured out if the fuel pump is bad or not, runs good and everything, idles rough alittle, check the fuel pressure, it idles at 39, primes at around 49 then goes down after it primes, took the vacuum hose off the regulator no fuel leaking out of it, and the fuel pressure was 49 with it the hose off. thing that makes me think the fuel pump is bad, is when i go to start it up, it takes it abit to start, but usually when i pump the gas before i try to crank it starts right up, doesn't do that if i had it running and then try to crank it right back up.
fuel gauge is not reading correctly, read up on how to check it, don't know if i done it right, but the wires going to pump said about .08 ohms, which could be true cause i probably have about 3 to 7 gallons in it, the connector going to the gauge said about .14 ohms.
any help on either one would be good, thx

Re: Fuel Pump/Fuel Gauge
Hard starting after sitting, check fuel pressure prior to turning on the key. If low, turn key on-off-on a couple of times w/o starting, pressure should hold at that 49 lbs you saw and not drop off drastically. (by the way your regulator or gauge is reading a little high, 39-49 lbs) My car holds pressure in the rails for over a day after stopping. If pressure bleeds down fast most likely it's the check valve in the fuel pump. Could also be regulator leaking fuel back to tank, you already checked reg leaking into vacuum line, or a leaking injector dripping into cylinder. This link has some more info and links to pics on checking the gauge.. ref shbox.com 4th Gen LT1 F-body Tech Articles

already checked regulator, no fuel smell or in it, haven't checked the injectors, my pressure drops quickly after i turn the key on then off, so thinking it is the fuel pump.
