Fuel filter problems, please help

I have had problems recently with the feul filter in my 1996 Z28 clogging up and i have had it replaced by my mechanic in the past but i would like to find it and change it myself. Where is the feul filter in my car? Anybody know? I havent had a chance to really look at it quite yet, but it just started having problems and wont start this morning and i have to go to class so ill look at it this afternoon.

Have you ever let air out of a tire?

Basicly pinch the plastic clip with your thumb and finger to release the gas line thats connected to the filter, if you don't want to mess with the sharder valve. In that case wear eye protection and be ready for dripping gas. Good idea to remove the screw that holds the fuel line next to the shrader valve towards the rear.

Re: Fuel filter problems, please help

Yesterday i relieved the pressure in the schrader valve and release the pressure in the tank from vapor build up and got under the car to take the filter out, but when i unscrewed the front gas line that goes to the engine, feul started to come out of the line very quickly in high amounts. I waited a few minutes but it never stopped or even slowed down, so i went back and tighted it back up before it leaked too much. How do i keep the feul from coming out of the line?

It may be the gas in the filter. When i removed the lines, a lot of gas leaked out, then I continued to remove the filter and still got a good run of gas, then it eventually stopped. I removed the line from the rear first then the front. Good luck.

You can't keep it from coming out. Whatever is in the line will drain out by gravity. It may seem like a lot, but will soon stop. Catch it with a pan.
