Fuel efficiency: LT1 vs. LS1

I've seen LS1 cars getting great gas mileage with the 6-speed. how about the LT1-cars with the manual. are they about the same (stock for stock)?

Thanks
Patrik

LT-1 EPA Fuel Economy:
City: 16 – 19 Highway: 25 – 30

LS-1 EPA Fuel Economy:
City: 18 – 19 Highway: 25 – 31

Looks Close but I think the LS has a little bit of an upper hand. But it all really depends on how you drive.

I did a 1,000 mile trip last summer and got an avg. of 28.5 mpg, although I didn't let it drop below 80mph and I did run a 30 min. time at 150mph once during the trip.

Re: Fuel efficiency: LT1 vs. LS1

but look at it this way: the LT1 makes all of its big power down low, so I think it would be a bit more fun for in town driving

yea my times were with a failing optispark, clogged cat, and bogging at the line. But when i finally go back to the track it should be better.

Re: Fuel efficiency: LT1 vs. LS1

LS1s will do a little bit better than LT1s on average, although I've never experienced gas mileage anywhere close to where these guys are getting. More like 13-14 around town, low-mid 20s on the highway. Lowest I ever recorded was 10, highest was 26. Car was running fine as well.

Thanks for all the replies
Just trying to figure out if i should buy the car near me as a daily driver. ('97, Z28, M6, 30k miles)

Actually I have a Volvo Turbo as a dd and off the line I really miss the torque down low... at least it gets great gas mileage (30mpg mixed driving)

The Corvette C5/6 still gets better gas mileage then the S2000.
