found out why my window is messed up..
found out why my window is messed up..
But I dont know what these things are or how to fix it so your help would be great.
here is what I found when I took the door apart
It looks like something was broken off where that hole is because its like sheered metal. That is some kind of bracket that I assume attaches to the track nearest to the outside of the door

Here are two parts I found inside the door

Basically that track isnt connected to the window and I dont know why
now I gotta figure out why my ABS light wont turn off...

there is.. i pushed it up and down and its in there.. but its not connected.. and thats where I am lost. I dont know how it connects all i know is that the bigger of the two pieces that are in the second picture was connected to it almost like it was magnetic or just stuck because of all the grease in there
Same thing happened to my window. I'm going to guess it's the driver's side? That metal stud has the small lip at the one end of it that connects to the metal plate on the regulator. I temporarily fixed mine by pushing it back in there and squeezing it back down with some pliers. It's not perfect, but at least the window doesn't roll back and forth now.
soo you think i could push the side with the lip back into the slider on the track and then i guess i would squeeze the ball end through the hole in that metal plate adjacent to it? I think that might work I guess ill give it a shot
Yeah man, that's all I did. I had to open it up a little first before that lip would fit back through the hole, but after that, I just squeezed it together with some slip-joint pliers and it's been fine since. Like I said, it still isn't perfect but it's not sliding back and forth inside the door anymore.
Try these guys: http://www.crlaurence.com/ Searrch in the automotive section and see if you can find one the correct size
i dont know what it is.. i was going to see if I could buy that plate section thats in the picture but everything is all riveted together.. I think i onl yhave two choices.. figure out how to get the bowling pin thing back in or take it to the dealership because i dont know if any shops around here would work on that window... that would cost a fortune tho
so i went to my friends house (he has tools) and we popped the bowling pin thing back into the slider on the track using a table clamp. i bolted the track back in to the door and then did a lot of manuevering and with some channel locks got the other side into the bracket. Its not in good tho. I know if i used the window it would come right off so I JB welded the **** out of it and clamped it down for the night and ill check it tomorrow afternoon.. hopefully that stuff is strong enough to hold it
Well I didn't use any JBweld or anything on my car and it's been holding up since then and I use the windows daily. I think I did my repair about 5 or so months ago and I haven't worried about it since.
mine is a little more involved then i thought.. there is something else broken I cant see so that jb weld didnt hold with all the extra stress on it.. oh well im just taking it to the shop to have a new regulator put in
Best thing to do is replace the regulator piece that attaches to the window. I did it myself and it's not too bad. Using Shoebox's site and watching out for the powerful regulator spring, things went well.
