Question Flywheel resurfacing?

When I am installing my new clutch set, is it a must to get the flywheel resurfaced?

If so, how much does this normally run? What kinda shops can do it or can I do it myself?

don't listen to anyone that tells you not too. It is a must. Most clutch companies will void their warrenty if it is not machined. I got mine done at CarQuest for $30. However, not all CarQuests have a machine shop. Just call around. It only takes an hour for them to do it.

Very similar process to turning your brake rotors...definitely get the flywheel resurfaced.

I ahve also heard that the flywheel must be shimed in the amount of material removed. I have not found any back up info on this but it does make scence. anyone have more info or places that will carry shims?

I havent heard of that. Would you really need to considering that it would be minimal amounts lost and just a natural process for a flywheel?
