Re: Flow Masters....And the benfits

There have been some threads on here that would indicate there are better choices than Flowmaster. However, those threads had to do with V8s, might be different for a V6.

Re: Flow Masters....And the benfits

a muffler is basically a restriction in the exhaust flow. the more restriction (generally) the more it quiets the sound.

the less restriction the easier the engine can push out the exhaust which translates to more power and efficiency.

flowmasters have great sound, and flow better than stock. however on higher hp engines they still tend to be a bit more restrictive than other brands. but for you V6 you should be fine.

don't expect huge gains. probably not even noticable gains in hp...just sound. if you really want to get the best gain replace the whole exhaust from the cat back. bigger pipes and better muffler will help make more power.

Re: Flow Masters....And the benfits

I wouldn't expect any increased mileage by changing the cat-back. Maybe in perfect conditions, but I know that with my Flowmaster, I get worse MPG now 'cause I peg it off the line all the time to hear the exhaust!! (it sounds really sweet).

A lot of guys claim that the Flowmaster doesn't actually "flow" all that well (compared to other aftermarket systems) but it's a step-up from stock. As well, I've only felt minimal SOTP gains.

I had a flowmaster and loved the sound but did notice it to be restrictive, meaning I felt less throttle response. If you want a baddass sound and no restiction get a Loudmouth from slp, you car will sound loud in your Camaro.
