Flashing dome lights.
Flashing dome lights.
My dome lights flash when i go over a bump, its a little embarrassing. I just noticed this about a week ago, it happened the same day i used my rear defroster for the first time this season. I dont know if it is related the the rear defroster or if it is just a coincidence. It happened last year at about the same time. Does anybody else have this problem? Is there a fix? If so i would appreciate some help.
Re: Flashing dome lights.
Yes they are off but when i hit a bump they turn on briefly, both the rear light by the hatch and the two on the mirror. I guess it could be the rear latch is not closed all the way and whenever i hit a bump it opens a little, causeing the light to come on. My latch closes really hard so thats probably it.
Is there any way to fix my hatch so it closes easier. The latch looks like it lines up and it doesnt look like the bumpstops are to tight. Sometimes it doesnt close when i slam it down the first time and i have to slam it again. I dont think its normal. Anybody know how to fix this?

Re: Flashing dome lights.
The hatch light switch is a little lever in the latch mechanism, that the u-bar on the hatch hits when it closes. Tape that switch in the "off" position (down) and see if the problem goes away.
Otherwise, the lights are normally supplied with 12V power, and the door and hatch switches provide the ground to turn them on. A short anywhere in the ground lines, or a door switch thats corroded and making an intermittent ground could cause the problem.
