Fixing firebird headlight motor?

Fixing firebird headlight motor?

I really don't want to buy a new one there pretty expensive mines still goes up and down. but at the botton it makes this noise as if the motor is still trying to go down it'll stop after a while but kinda embarrasing. who has ever rebuilt one or had this proble?

Generally, its the plastic gear that has worn out. You have a couple choices.... disassemble and flip the gear around 180degrees. It only runs on 1/2 the gear, so 1/2 the teeth will still be like new. I think Shoebox has the info on his "Tech Pages".

The alternative is metal replacement gears. Brent Franker (one of the moderators) makes them and sells them. Brent has the info on his website.
