A few quirks on my 98 Z28, any ideas??
Over the passed few months I’ve noticed a few quirks on my 98 Z28. Nothing I imagine that would directly impede the function of my vehicle, but they are getting more annoying.
First, when I try to click over to my brights, the lever won’t click. If I click the lever hard enough, it will switch to the brights, but won’t switch back without a fight. I’m certain that it’s just the lever itself because my lights function just fine otherwise. I’m wondering if replacing this lever requires just the lever itself or if I have to mess with the entire steering column. BTW: my car is a no options model, so I’m not sure if most turn signal levers out there have features that mine doesn’t, and therefore may not function the same or what-have-you.
I’ve also noticed my interior and exterior lights flickering faintly. My first inclination says it’s my alternator, since I haven’t messed with that since I’ve owned it (4-5 years now). I replaced my battery about three years ago, so it’s about time for a change, but my voltage reads just fine. Another odd thing is that my aftermarket headunit doesn’t flicker at all, just my factory lights. My idle doesn’t change and my car doesn’t feel like it’s going to stall out, and it starts up without a hitch, so I’m a little stumped.
Lastly, my car has an odd tremble almost every time I go to a drive-thru car wash. After the car wash does it’s thing, and I let go of the brake to roll out, my Camaro has a peculiar tremble, but only momentarily. At first I thought it was my Nittos failing to grip on the wet concrete, but after a few times, I definitely wasn’t coming from my tires. It appears that this issue has no relation to my lights flickering, nor does it impact my idle, or anything else. I do wonder if maybe it’s my MAF trying to adjust to frequent/drastic changes in temperature at the car wash, or if it’s possibly an issue I am not aware of.
Any advice guys n gals??? Thanks in advance!

is it possible the issue with the car wash is a little water getting in the o2 sensor.
i think they have an orafice that meters the ambient air...could be something like that.

The tremble sounds like water getting to the opti. I never take it to a drive through wash anymore after one time when it killed the motor and the car barely fired back up. I knew better, but it was dirty.

The high beams either you just need to readujust the rod and switch for you highbeams to work . i should click . try moving the tilt around ?
you might have to lower the colulm and replace the switch .about $15 bucks or the rod needs to be readjusted and came out of the hole in the highbeam switch ...
does the lights flicker all the time or when the stereo is on and when the bass hits ? test the alt and battery autozone can do this for free ...
could be alt or batt ....
check your spark plug wires for archs if you have slight arching when you get her wet she going miss alot until she dries up ...
check the coil connections too ... start up the car one night wheres its pitch black dark out and crack the hood and look under it and see if you see a light show ?
try this things and good luck
