Fan Mod Switch

I installed the fan switch mod perty close to the directions posted on fbody.com. I connected a wire directly to the blue fan wire in the fuse harness under the hood, and then another wire to the fuse box on the side of the dash under battery, (i did connect it first to the ignition like it said, but then my gauges fuse blew and my car wouldn't start). And then a third wire to grounding because the switch i used has a light. The processess worked well until i turned my a/c on, then the switch poped and started smoking and is dead now. Where did i go wrong, what would cause this to happen, i know it probably has to do with the A/C being on, but then how can i go around this?

dont post the same exact question in 2 different forums. Choose Lt1 tech or General tech, dont post in both.
