F1 z28
I am interested in purchasing a 97 camaro from a seller in my area but I cannot find much information about the F1. What exactly does it stand for? Now I do know there are parts added on by the factory but my research has not given me much knowledge. I am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.

as far as i know the f1 was an lt1 car ...............
Bob Fehan designed and created the F1 Camaro it was the Performance package from GM Performance Parts, at that time it was the fastest production Camaro direct from the factory.It out performaned the SS Camaro as tested my Motortrend Magazine.

The "F1" is a MOSTLY appearance package from GM Performance Parts. No significant "performance" increase, other than a CAI and a cat-back. The parts were only sold by dealers, and could be installed by the dealer or self-installed. It was not available "from the factory" and its an exageration to call it "the fastest production Camaro". Info from the 4th Gen FAQ:
Q: What's included in the F1-Camaro/Firebird-GT package?
A: This is a package available through most dealerships. It offers a variety of performance and cosmetic parts from the GM Performance Group. The following is a list of the parts for the F1-Camaro (and for the Firebird-GT) and can be ordered for your Z28 or Formula through your dealership:
