Exhaust squeak is it possible?
I replaced my rear shocks, rotors and pads, changed diff. fluid and lubed every pivet point on the rear of 02 Camaro. I'm doing all this to try and fix a annoying squeak/squeal. Has anyone ever had a problem with the exhaust clamps letting your exhaust pivet to make a squeak? That is my last option and before I go and have the pipes welded together I want to know everyone elses experiance. I have a Edelbrock Cat-back exhaust system.
Re: Exhaust squeak is it possible?
I used to get alot of noise with my old Edelbrock catback and it was cleanly welded up. It turned out the I-pipe was rubbing on the rear axle at times making squeaking and metallic rubbing noises. Once I put on the Magnaflow catback, all of those unwanted noises disappeared. Maybe its a fitment issue.

Really? Thats what I was wanting to know, good. So you had to change out everything or just the over the axle section? Did it have rub marks on it? Did you ever talk to Edelbrock? Thanks.

Re: Exhaust squeak is it possible?
If you have an exhaust pipe rubbing something causing this squeak you should easily see where its happening. If the clamps are tight hen the pipes should not squeak. If the pipe is at the very least 3/8" away from everything then the pipe is not the problem.
Other squeaks in the rear of the car include:
Rubber bushings in the lower control arms, th only way to fix this is to replace them. Ge some tubular arms with poly greasable bushings. These are noisy especially when the car is first driven any given day.
Dry upper shock mount bushings. Grease them.
Sheet metal heat shield above he muffler, Check and tighten.
Exhaust hangers. Check and tighten.
I know you have an 02 camaro, but on the early 4th gens the rear calipers were well known to squeak. The pads shifting or the rotor rubbing the caliper bracket were the problem. I still have the pad squeak which is super annoying.
Jack up the rear end, remove the wheel and reattach the lug nuts without the wheel, you may have to put some temporary washers on the lug to simulate the wheel. Torque the nuts down. you should be able to push and pull on the rotor and shift the axle. If you hear a squeak its your inner brake pads shifting in the caliper brackets.

Re: Exhaust squeak is it possible?
Problem fixed it was the exhaust pipe that went over the axle, there was part of the pipe from edelbrock that was rubbing the frame. I did a quick fix with silicon and it is gone for now, thanks to all
