Exhaust question

I know this gets asked a lot but I am a newbee and am going to ask a newbee question. I have owned a 99 camaro ss since 2003 after my dad died, it was his baby. I have not modified it at all besides a K&N filter, things have changed since my sister came home with a new charger SRT8. Now its on. I was looking to start with a new exhaust, but there are a bunch of options. What is good and what is bad. I want to stay under 500 bucks, I am looking at either magnaflow or SLP, but was wondering if the edlebrock or flowmaster were anygood. They are considerable cheaper and they are good names but you know how it goes, you get what you pay for with parts. Any help would be great.

Re: Exhaust question

I love my magnaflow. Awesome sound ( much deeper than my old flowmaster ) great price, beautiful mirror-finish stainless steel--Can't think of anything I don't like about it.

Or you could check out the Amsoil filter. It's like a K&N, only minus the oil. That way, you don't have to worry about **** gunking up on the MAF.

Re: Exhaust question

I recommend the Edelbrock.

I'm not sure how it would sound on an LS1, but I have it on my LT1 and its one of the nicest sounding exhausts I have ever heard. The Bass is amazing.

I also thought it was going to come with aluminised turn down tips, but instead it came with stainless slash cut tips!

Re: Exhaust question

While you're putting a cat-back exhaust on your car, you might as well install long tube headers too. LTs with a catback and a lid is worth about 30RWHP. If you're into modifying, you're gonna do it eventually, so save time and do it now.

Re: Exhaust question

I will vouch for the magnaflow.. i love them, and they sound great. add a lid, ad a SSRA, and some long tube headers, delete the cats and you will be giving anything a run for its money!

I've had my K&N in about 4 years and 14k miles, I only cleaned my MAF once and it wasn't that bad... IT was suity, but nothing a Q-tip didn't take care of.. 10 miin of work. and this was about two weeks ago... I don't want to hear that K&N gunks up the maf stuff...But it is all w/ theroy that the stock filter would be more effiecient, as far as the filtering...

On the other hand... Another vote for the Maganflow... Nice tips, and great souund for the money!
