exhaust on '98 3800

I have a '98 with the Y87 package and after this winter i'd like to get some exhaust work done. So my question is, can I mount the mufflers ahead of the rear axle. I'm also looking for the right mufflers with good sound. I like a nice low, rumbling tone. Loud, but not too loud, and not like a ricer. Also, about how much do O2 sims run?

You'll probably have better luck in the V6 forum.

Mounting a muffiler infront of the axle would have to be a custome job, I chose to buy a cat back kit since I didnt want to mess with the headers/cat.

Mine is the Borla, it sounds alright, sometimes it's a bit much, but their wasnt many options back then, look around and read up on what others have done before you do anything.

the guy who would do the job could make it work i'm sure, but i'm just hoping there's sufficient space. he dual'd my regal 3.8 with some stainless and bent the pipe himself. so i probably won't spend the money on a pre-fab exhaust.

Just make sure their is enough clearence, I've scrubed the bottom of my pipe coming back a few times on road debree.

Is this system going to have 2 outlets?

If I were to do it again..... I probably would of left it alone and had someone weld up a chrome tip that looked like the one on the '98 SS Or I might of gone with the Flowmaster 40 series.
