This is for car in my sig. The little rubber elbow connecting the throttle body to the EVAP purge solenoid piping is dry rotted really bad. I made a post about this in the LT1 tech forum and was told that there's no specific part numbers for these generic fittings.

I went to the GM Chevy dealer AND Advance Auto Parts and they both looked at me like I was asking for enriched weapons-grade Plutonium.

Furthermore, I found this part number on shoebox's site #10105324, it says it is for evap solenoid to throttle body piping. It does not say if it comes with the fitting or not. The guy at the Chevy dealership also did not know.

Can someone please help me out?

10105324 is the part number for the hose from end to end. Why do you need a fitting?

 

I just need that little rubber elbow that connects the evap pipe to the throttle body. It's a 90 degree elbow, goes from 1/4" to 3/8" it looks like. I need it because the one I have now has a big crack in it, and I'm pretty sure I'm getting a vacuum leak.

So if that part number is only for the pipe, then how do I go about replacing the fitting? Seriously people looked at me like I was asking the most asinine question. If I am, please educate me.

I'll use anything so long as I don't have to do what that moron at the auto parts store told me... that he'd sell me a length of vacuum tube and I could just loop it in a circle.

I'm only confused now because Injuneer told me that they are all generic parts and could be found at a parts store or is there some way to bend tubing?

 

If it was me, I'd just wrap it neatly with electrical tape and throw it back on.

 

Shoebox said it was "end to end".... I'd interpret that as including the elbow. The parts drone should be able to pull it up on his screen just from the part #, unless its discontinued.

Your local auto parts store should have a display of vacuum fittings. Find an elbow that matches (diameter of each end). It may not look exactly like the factory part, but as long as it has the correct diameter to fit on the throttle body and on the plastic hose, it will work fine. And look better than one wrapped with tape......

 

The hose includes the elbow.

 

I bought this same part at a local dealership for around $13. I think the said it was discontinued, but they were able to get from out of state. It's the whole thing, connects evap solenoid to the tb.

As far as the auto parts store and dealership they both really did look at me like I had bugs crawling out my ears. You guys don't seem to be having these problems so I'm assuming it must be isolated to New York, but I remember rskrause made a post about asking for woodruff keys and the clerk not knowing what they were. Well, it seemed to me that's what it was like me asking for this vacuum fitting.

You shouldn't need any help to find the vacuum fittings in an auto parts store... you walk around until you see the display area, and pick the one you need.

 

Rochester auto parts stores must think no one needs vacuum fittings Injuneer. The best selection I found last week was at Autozone and they had absolutely nothing resembling what I needed. BTW their "display of vacuum fittings" occupied a space of about 2' wide by 2' tall on a dozen or so pegs. They were all straight or t fittings. No elbows of any kind and no reducers. I even asked the guy working there if I was missing another display of fittings and he said that's all they stocked.

All other places I went to including Advance and whatnot had NO fittings, only vaccum tubing. Two different people at two different stores told me to just buy a length of the vacuum line and loop it in a circle from tube to throttle body. Sure it would work, but I didnt want it to look like ***.

I ended up ordering the GM part with the new pipe and everything. So in the end it's going to cost me $10 for a stupid fitting, so if anyone broke their plastic pipe going from the throttle body to evap solenoid, let me know and I'll mail you the extra part for free.

So, just throwing that out there in case people were thinking I'm a complete idiot.
