"Err" message on Monsoon cd player

It started when I was going to change cd's. When I put it in, it just spit it out and said "Err". I then tried several cd's including brand new original cd's and none of them play. I just keep getting the error. The weirdest thing is that even with no cd inside, it keeps showing Error and sounds like its trying to play a cd. Even with the car off it makes the same noise. I'm thinking it might even drain my battery. Let me know whats wrong.

How would I go about fixing it? Is it something I can do or do I have to take it to the dealer. Does warranty cover it? Maybe if I take it out and give it a little hit?

No dont hit!!!!!!! Leave it in car and take it back to the dealer. If its covered let them take care of it.Dont let anyone use those JUNK cd style cleaning discs, those hurt the lens.Take it to a GM radio fixing place if dealer wont replace it.Any other ?s feel free to ask...

Thanks for the info. I guess i'll just wait till Monday and call the dealer. I am going to double check, but I am pretty sure that I can remove the radio fuse without it affecting anything else.

If nothing else, an aftermarket CD/MP3 player is a pretty cheap solution.

Re: "Err" message on Monsoon cd player

What about the 12cd changer? I have a few CDs that WON'T PLAY.. it's strange as hell

A ton of my burned CDs work, but a lot of them won't.. Some memorex's work, some don't.

I burned them at 4x, and i think 2x, for one or two of the cds.. and it doesn't change anything... the CDs are 52x i think... And I think that may be the problem, but i'm not sure? But that doesn't make much sense at all... Two CDs will play, but will skip, and have lots of static, and low volume... The other CDs just say "ERR"... One of the newest cds i've burned, it worked one day, and played tracks 1-3.. then, i think.. then after shutting the car off, and back on.. "ERR" and no tracks play at ALL!... I've tried switching the CD to a different position in the changer, and nothing.. it doesn't work.. ERR.

Any ideas?

Re: "Err" message on Monsoon cd player

Problem fixed, but not the best way. I was in a hurry to go out Sunday after the car had been off for about 12 hours and it didn't turn on. The stupid cd player did run the battery down. (by the way, I did remove the radio fuse and the radio didn't turn on, but that didn't stop the cd player from trying to play a cd, weird huh?) So anyways I was out in the 110* sun, jump starting the car. Once I got it running again, I noticed the "Err" was not there, put a cd in and turned up the volume All is good again.
