engine removal

engine removal

i am looking at a 1998 ls1 camaro with a blown motor and i was told by other that the only way to get the engine out is by dropping the whole k member and suspension is this true or can it be taken out the top. does any one know any sites for ls1 rebuild kits

out the top is possible, but it is extremely easy out the bottom

just like a tranny, there is more then 1 way to get it out but one is alot easier then the other... if you have access to a lift then do it from the bottom

I just put one in throught the top about 2 weeks ago. The MUST HAVE is the sling that allows you to tilt the engine back and forth. I kow theres a technical name for it, but I dunno it.

thanks for the info i was thinking of using a big set of steel horses that i make there about 4 feet tall and put the car on those to get the engine out. what would you say would be a good price to pay for a 1998 camaro ls1 auto with a blown engine thanks for the help

Throw out $1500 and see where it goes. Maybe he's desperate to get rid of it...
