electrical issues on my 97 Z28
electrical issues on my 97 Z28
Just got the car out of storage last week and all seemed fine with the exception of my rusted rear turn signal socket. So I PB Blaster'ed it and pulled the old bulb out and cleaned out the rust. The new bulb would not work so apparently the ground is still rusted. I'm hoping after I fix this, my latest problem will magically disappear.
Latest problem: I was driving down the road tonight decided to turn on my fog lights (but not headlights) so I turned the switch and noticed the foglights did not come on (they worked last week). Later I decided to power off my radio to listen to the car on the road. Parked at Kroger, came back out and attempted to use the keyless entry rear hatch release...NOTHING. But the keyless entry did work to open my doors. I turn on the car and realize I now have no dash lights! ...and no power to the radio!...and still no fog lights! ...and still no hatch release even with the hatch button under the dash. Checked the fuse box under the dash and hood. All looks well. When I hit the hatch release, I hear a click in the dash over on the passenger side. Are there more fuses in there or a relay?
Also, does anyone have a diagram of the chassis grounds? Or can someone atleast tell me where they are all at? It seems all of GM's reliability issues are electrical related when it comes to these cars...I guess that would explain why they seemed desperate for electrical engineers at our most recent career fair at OSU.
