Easiest way to install DMH cutout?
Easiest way to install DMH cutout?
Just like the title says. It came with instructions but they weren't as clear as I hoped they'd be. I'm sure I could figure it out, but if someone thats done it before could give me some pointers on where to run the wires and where to put the switch, that would save me some time and some frustration. Also, do I have to make my own Y-pipe for it? Or is there another way? I'm going to be installing this after the cat in that area underneath the backseat where there is room.

There's a half *** guide I wrote after I already had it installed, I was too busy doing the work to think to take pictures at the time
Once you have the console out it's fairly straight forward. Just so you know, the way I did it, you need to have your driving lights/parking lights on in order for the switch to get power since I tapped into the bulb that goes to the light that lights up the shifter things. I couldn't use the cigarette lighter for it's power(but I did use it's ground wire) because the switch mine came with(QTP) has a little light on the end and it would suck the battery down even when not operating the switch. Your's may be different.

Re: Easiest way to install DMH cutout?
Thanks man. Why didn't you use the ciggarette lighter for power? Because you didn't want people messing with the switch? Or because of the LED on the switch? (The DMH has no LED on the switch)
Re: Easiest way to install DMH cutout?
I installed mine similarly to flatlander757, but I wired it to the cig lighter.
When it came time to run the cable through the drain plug, I cut the wires and rejoined them after running them through a small hole in the plug.

So it seems as though the general consensus is to run the wire from the cutout through the drain plug, up through the side of the passenger side, to the center console and into the power wire going to the cig lighter. The black wire going to the cig lighter is the ground. Which wire going to the cig is the power? I haven't ripped it apart yet but when I do I want to know which wire is which.

Yeah, as long as it is a momentary switch(which your's is) it won't suck power and you can use the cigarette lighter for power and ground. I just didn't do it because of the LED. And I later went back and just cut a slit in the drain plug to stuff the wire through and put it back to avoid anything getting in.
Just be sure to use some (red, i think) RTV silicone on the cutout where it mounts to the electric valve. Advanced Auto was out of it so I used copper gasket RTV stuff. And be sure to use red loctite on the nuts that hold it on.
