Exclamation E-Brake Light comes on under hard braking?

When im coming to a hard stop my E-brake light comes on on the dash, and sometimes stays on for awhile, if i tap the brakes a few times it tends to go away...whats up with that??? It only recently started doing this, and only under HARD braking....Anyone?

The "BRAKE" light has two functions. One is to indicate the e-brake is on. The other is to indicate that the pressure switch in the distribution block on the side of the ABS unit has detected an incorrect pressure balance between the front and rear braking circuits. Could be a leak in one of the brakes, air in a line, or low fluid.

What this guy said...

although I'm not familiar with hte E-brake (M6) THe light will trigger on for the above mentioned reasons. Ocassional if there is air in your system the light will go on when you brake hard... not a bad time to check your system out... the BRAKE light is nothing to take lightly. A bad Master is causing mine ocassionally right now... could be a minor problem.. or a serious problem... but don't ignore it.

Definetly have it checked out, but before you go anywhere just check you brake fluid level. My light was on and I was a little low on brake fluid.

Dude it really doesn't take much effort to pop the hood to check the level of the brake fluid.

I was speaking in terms of having the actual brakes and lines inspected...Ive changed my waterpump...but I cant check my fluid levels

Yeah the E-brake light comes on when low on fluid. My porsche 944 and 3000gt VR4 both did that. both were low on fluid.

Fluid could be sloshing forward and causing the sensor to go off. Like everyone else said check fluid. I'm confused though, does it say e-brake....I thought it just said BRAKE? I haven't been in my Camaro in months darn winter.

I aways seem to have the "low traction" light come on when i make a turn I wonder why...............lol

Re: E-Brake Light comes on under hard braking?

Its not "fluid sloshing".... the switch located on the pressure block on the side of the ABS unit, and is activated by the difference in pressures between the front and rear braking circuits.
