My brothers driver side window wont go up and I don't think it's a bad window motor because they will usually start to get slow, then do the whole stop and go thing. This one just stopped and wouldn't go up. Under the dash I found that the window control mod. "the one on the back of the firewall, behind the radio", was making a buzzing noise. I took it out and replaced it with a new one from GM. After spending $57 this still didn't fix the problem. Any ideas?

 

Many people have noticed the express down module making a little noise when their window motor has gone out. Maybe you should have jumped power to the motor first to prove it was good or bad. Sometimes they just up and die.

 

Turns out the motor was bad. Replaced it and now it's fine. Thanks for the help shoebox. Also, should I take the new window module out and try to see if the old one works, or could this cause the new window motor to go bad?

 

The module won't have any effect on the motor life.
