Door rubbing on front fender when opening.
Door rubbing on front fender when opening.
Well, I've got a 94' Trans Am, and I've had it for 4 years now. Just took the car out of storage about a month ago and now I'm noticing that when the passenger side door is opened, it rubs the front fender. It makes a large 'knock' when opened, and the paint is wearing there.
This is the first year that this has happened, I have not been in any accidents, and I'm fairly certain the car was not in an accident previous to me purchasing it.
Any ideas why this would happen, and any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks.

I'll have a look on your site and see if I can find where to adjust the fender.
Thanks!
A lot of people try to jack these cars up at the very bottom rear of the fender where it meets the pinchweld. The problem is, that particular portion of the pinchweld isn't very strong, and it bends very easily under jack pressure, either warping or breaking the fender. The bolts at the rear of the fender are in several places. There are two at the bottom rear of the fender, facing in toward the middle of the car, you'll be able to see them from the outside looking under it. There is one in the rear middle portion of the fender, but I can't remember if you can access it from inside the door jamb, or if you have to take the fender liner out. There is another at the top rear of the fender, but that one is probably not causing you any problems.
You may have to take the bottom of the fender loose and bend the flange back straight. Use some duckbill type vice grips or a couple of hammers, or a hammer and dolly. You'll see what the piece is when you look underneath the car.
