Does this guy know his stuff or no (ls1 engine)

http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.p...hreadid=544411
and
http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.p...hreadid=543324

Its on a paintball website that has a car section. Anyways i was telling people about my new exhaust and such and he put in his advice. I am pretty sure he is mis-informed on most of it but wanted to check with some more of yall.
Thanks

whoops forgot to add, the person in question is blue69camaro383. I am specifically talking about the true duals and power loss idea of his.

That guy guessed 280 rwhp!?!?!?!?

Youre gonna dyno close to 300 rwhp stock with that M6.

Id go with closer to the 330 mark.

The boy is slightly misinformed. From personal experience I can tell you the following:

#1: Blue69Camaro383 sounds like a f'in jacka$$. I clicked on your link and he referrred to the engine several times as a 3.5L. Well, the ONLY options in a Camaro are 3.4, 3.8, 5.7, and LS1 5.7. 3.5 is a Dodge engine. He's discredited himself there already!!

#2: Two thousand is not cheap, but for true duals is not unheard of. On my old 97 Z28 I had Jet-Hot longtubes + a custom y-pipe + mating this crap to the stock Flowmaster cat-back. My bill was $1300. If I went the true dual route it would have been about $1800. This was in Texas where labor is cheap, so $2K isn't unheard of.

#3 You are dynoing more than 280HP. Stock an LS1 is underrated. You probably had 280 at the wheels to begin with. The headers ae good for 20-25. The programmer + cooling fans are good for .2 in the 1/4 mile (I tested this extensively in 2002 ), which is about 20HP. The ram-air is god at HIGH RPM for a few ponies. Air lids are dyno proven for about 15-17HP.

Bottom line, I'd guess 320 conservatively with your setup, or about 13.4 in the 1/4 if driven correctly on a good track with decent traction. Your "competitor" (Blue69Camaro383) is either jealous, misinformed, or most likely, talkng out his *** about things he has no real knowledge of. Hope this helps and gives you a boost Your combo sounds better than mine!!!!

13.4? That car does that totally stock! I'd guess mid 12's if he could get a good launch.

He's not gonna dyno any 280rwhp with that M6. Maybe an A4, but he should be in the very low 300's at worst.

I dynoed 313.6 rwhp this last Friday with a lid, filter, MAF ends, smooth bellow, TB bypass, and MAC headers with catted Y pipe. My car is a auto and was running rich.

Yea your numbers seem a little low for an LS1. My roomate, although he had an M6, was putting down 346 with lid, headers, borla, and ported TB.

that guy needs to be bitch-slapped

I 3rd gen doesnt mod even CLOSE to the same way an LS1 does.

Hes an idio, and is probably some old man who cant get it through his thick skull that those old-timey bull**** theories dont apply.

Someone PLEASE post a dyno graph for him to see...although he will just say you are modded.

I would but I am too cheap to spend the cash for a dyno....so Im waiting till the cam & tune

So he's saying that even with the list of mod's you have... you'll have a hard time breaking 300rwhp because it doesn't have the LS6 intake??

Even with just an aftermarket lid and Flowmaster exhaust I was able to hit 308rwhp

There's a shot of the dyno if he wants to see. Seems to me like this guy is the type that likes ot read magazines like Car & Driver and takes what they say as the truth? I noticed how he liked to copy and paste info from off LS1.com's FAQ section. Some of the info he tried posting about LS1's are so newbish that even I knew about it i.e his Copy/Paste about bent pushrods... didn't really have any relivance to the conversation unless I missed something.
