Does anyone else have Hatch Motor Problems?

Hi....is there a solution to the electric hatch motor in a 89. Mine works the first time then it doesnt work anymore...this is the 3rd one now. I just plug it in...I have not messed with the wiring..so what could it possibly be? Can I put a manual one in? Doesnt the 91-92 have a non electric unit and can I use that instead? If anyone has the answers plz share them...thx..

Does it blow the fuse? Mabie it's drawing too much. Is it a new or used unit? I have a third gen also but i have the manual one for my 85..I would imaging that they have a manual one.

mine gives me touble as well, I have a buddy of mine getting me a new one soon. And masiroc, I have a 92 and it's electric so I'm assuming 91's are too. Personally I hate the electric ones and wish it was manual

Make sure the ground is good and all connections and splices if any are also good.

That's why they die, poor voltage connections.

anyone have any pictures of the wiring by the hatch motor so that I can compare it to mine? I replaced the motor and it still does not work.

Update: In another forum I found a poster who suggested wiring the motor directly to the battery to see if it worked, so I tried it with my old motor and the motor worked! So I am going to assume that the problem was not with the motor, but somewhere else, ideas???
