Sounds like a big project.

What motor are you looking at putting in? If your going to be paying a mechanic to do it, it's not going to be cheap.

Why diesel?

Wow thats gonna be quite a project as to fit that cummins diesel as pretty much everything is gonna have to be changed - fuel system, front suspension (bet that motor weighs way more then the lt1), move the radiator to fit the turbo, exhaust system, and the list goes on. Plus consider the electrics you are gonna need to swap out and lastly depending upon where you live you will be subject to emissions inspection and that will not pass.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I'm simply wondering how much room he's going to have under the cowl for that.

LOL - Good point. Just don't think it's gonna fit.

My brother put a 24v cummins in his 1970 C-20 PU it broke the frame in the first week... They way 850 pounds, and with minor mods 700tq is no problem. The frame on a F-body would be the major issue..... Also you would need to run Dodge Trans... Your best bet would be a BT-4 but max tq is around 450ish... A 12v is fully mechincal so no ecm would be needed only for trans, but again large motor.... Cummins 24V is a LARGER motor, very long, you would have to cut fire wall and remount radiator vertical at min... Duramax would be even harder, its larger and would require Allison trans which is GIANT..... Both the Duramax and 24V would be an eletrice horror! Duramax has about 300 sensors... Anything can be done, but I would bet this project to run 50k at the least.... ANY FORD DIESEL AFTER THE 7.3 is JUNK!!!!

There is a youtube vid of a c-5 with a duramax its freakin sick...

I don't think there's any reasonable way to fit one of those under the hood.

Find you a Mercedes-Benz diesel out of a new CDI vehicle. They are a 3.0 liter turbo diesel, and put out 415ish TQ, 220ish HP. It might fit in a fbody. Most come with a 7 speed auto tranny. Look up a E320 CDI, they also get 45+MPG

The Duramax is several hundred pounds heavier than our LT1's. Just drop it in and your car will be bottomed out.

I saw in CHP I believe several months ago a 94ish mustang had a duramax in it, and had alittle room left in the engine bay, so should be doable. Just how much it costs to do so would be the issue

Needless to say, you're going to need a stronger k-member and stiffer springs/struts. Good luck shoe-horning that thing in there...I seriously doubt a Cummins would fit.

You may be the first person to do it. It will be ultra-expensive to have someone do it for you (if anyone even will).

How about the 350ci Oldsmobile LF9 from a 1980 Oldsmobile.... a fine example of the Diesel engine, if there ever was one.
