anywho, the light came on, and i smiled of course, later i noticed the light was out, and for the rest of the day, i pushed the button and nothing happened, i guess its broken now?

Would you be asking about the rear window defroster?

yes, it doesnt turn on after that first time...
is there a fuse to check, or something.

I mean when i turned it on the other day it melted the ice off of a couple sections of the window, but not throughly.

There's a 30 amp circuit breaker in the fuse panel on the end of the dash on the driver's side. Replace it with a 30 amp FUSE. Keep an eye on it when you turn it on, as there have been a few reports of the fuse overheating and causing a melt down.

I remember my firebird was kind of tempermental, thats why I'm asking...
i remember sometimes it would turn off after a few moments, but I could usually turn it back on...

I had just forgotten what it's behavior was... let me check that fuse/circuit breaker

I replaced my circuit breaker with a 30 amp fuse as well. You just gotta watch it because sometimes the defroster wont autoshutoff unless you hit the button again. Has been working fine for me for years but i recently looked at the fuse and the plastic seemed a little deformed from overheating. just replaced it with another 30 amp fuse.
